Sergeant Donald Henson was born in Takoma Park, Maryland
and was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County.
Sergeant Henson graduated from Richard Montgomery High
School's class of 1977 in Rockville.
On October 19, 1985 Sergeant Henson became the devoted
husband of Christi Richter at Saint Mary's Church in Rockville.
Sergeant Henson began his career with the Montgomery
County Sheriff's Office on June 25, 1990 where he spent his first six
months attending the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Academy.
He was a proud graduate of Session XXIII.
Sergeant Henson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on
December 23, 1996.
On July 4, 2001 Sergeant Henson was tragically taken
from us in a motor vehicle accident in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Sergeant Henson was a devoted family man who spent most
of his special time with is loving wife Christi and their family of
birds.
Sergeant Henson was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan;
never missing a home football game, even if it meant missing out on an
overtime detail. He became front-page news when he caught a game ball at
Super Bowl XXVII in Minnesota.
Sergeant Henson's dedication to the Montgomery County
Sheriff's Office and the eternal friendship's he made with his
colleague's will be remembered by all who had the opportunity to work
with him.
Sergeant Henson is also survived by his mother, June,
his father, Lawrence and his stepmother, Ann. He will be greatly missed
by many, many other family and friends.
Sergeant Henson may be 10-7 for the remainder but his
dedication, friendly face and upbeat approach to life will remain in our
hearts and minds forever. We will truly miss you Brother Don.
