During the Sniper investigation the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team was assigned full time to respond to potential threats and to work with Local, State and Federal Authorities during the investigation. Additional Deputies were also assigned by the Sheriff's Office to assist with security at schools and other high profile locations within Montgomery County. Deputies who routinely are assigned to work out in the community also aided in vehicle check points, perimeters and responded to suspicious activity.
The Sheriff's Office continues to redirect resources as necessary to assist when there are high demands placed on Local Law Enforcement Agencies. Most recently Deputies were reassigned to assist during the damage caused by Hurricane Isabel.
