New Canine Sam Joins the Sheriff's Office

Deputy Sheriff III Boyer and her canine partner Sam have completed their training and are ready to work. Deputy Boyer joined the Sheriff's Office in 1998 and teamed up with her new partner Sam in 2001. In July of 2001 they successfully completed Explosive Detection Training with the City of Alexandria Police Department. In January of 2002 they successfully completed Patrol School with the Montgomery County Police Department. Sam is a German Shepard who is very energetic and eager to work. Deputy Boyer and Sam are often seen around the Circuit Court and Government Complex in Rockville and are ready to respond to calls wherever they may be requested. This is the Sheriff's Office second active Canine Team and selection is underway to add a third team.
