On January 2, 2001, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the
selection of Hannah Sassoon to fill the newly created position of Montgomery
County Domestic Violence Coordinator. Ms. Sassoon will coordinate the efforts of
a multi-agency domestic violence response team designed to identify and
intervene in high-risk domestic violence cases in an effort to reduce the
possibility of serious physical harm.
The Domestic Violence Coordinator position was created as a result of the
Montgomery County Council's Office of Legislative Oversight report on improving
the County's response to domestic violence situations. The response team, recommended
by the OLO report, will include representatives from the State's Attorney's
Office, County Police, Sheriff's Office, Courts, Department of Correction and
Department of Health and Human Services.
Ms. Sassoon worked with the County's Department of Health and Human Services
for over 15 years, most recently as the Program Manager for the Abused Persons
Program's Victim Assistance Unit. To contact the Sheriff's Office Domestic
Violence Coordinator, please call the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at
